Rep. Eric Swalwell

CONGRESS 15 | Rep. Eric Swalwell already has his hands full closing the inherent East-West divide in the 15th Congressional District, but he thinks he can help the generations-long dispute between Israel and Palestine.
The freshman congressman and 35 other members of Congress, led by Rep. Steny Hoyer, left Sunday for Israel. The contingent will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas during the seven-day trip.
The pro-Israeli lobby in Washington has been kind to Swalwell before and after his election to Congress last November. Various Israeli organizations have contributed greatly to his campaign going back to last year. Many of the same groups again contributed to Swalwell’s campaign, according to the most recent campaign finance reports.
The trip was organized by the American Israeli Education Foundation, which is affiliated to the powerful American Israeli Public Affairs Committee.
In media reports today, Swalwell said his primary interest in the trip is to evaluate Israel’s methods and responses to terrorism, including its technology.
Swalwell is currently a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security and has advocated in the past for greater funding for security at airports and at BART, which runs through his district. Swalwell has also backed the Alameda County Sheriff’s proposal for domestic drones in cases of emergency. He also backs the use of more lethal forms of drones in the Middle East.
According to Swalwell’s congressional Web Site, he advocates for a two-state solution in Israel, but urges Palestinians to negotiate directly with Israel, and without pre-conditions.

She has been elected many times in most of the district and people love her. Eric the doofus has made multiple mistakes in our District on almost a daily basis and people are laughing at his ineptness. I live east of the hills and she will do quite well here. Ellen will score big among moderates and independents unlike Stark who wasn't liked because of his abrasive personality. Many people here have told me they voted for Eric only because he ran against Stark, but will vote for Ellen because Eric has screwed up too many times and they like Ellen better.

The top-two system puts her at a extreme disadvantage that she never had to deal with in past elections.
Like Pete Stark, she'll do well West of the hills, but will be completely out done in Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin where she needs to appeal to moderates and conservatives.
The math no longer works as it did for decades.
You can't vote for things like putting non-citizens on juries and then expect it to not portray you as out of step with main stream voters in the district.

I wish Swalwell's staffers would quit writing and posting on this blog. They always try and change the subject and pump up the idiot kid. Ellen has many bills pass both the Assembly and Senate that are sitting on the Gov.'s desk for signing that will benefit most of us. Most importantly she's not making mistake after mistake almost every other day like Eric. The kid is an embarrassment in way over his head who stands for nothing. But you're onto something. Just the other day I needed to have my antique clock cleaned and had a very difficult time finding a good cleaner. This would be a good profession for what's her name once she's termed out and without a job. Granted, she'd need to go back to school, but she might be able to handle it. She would first need to apprentice and earn minimum wage. Since she's lacking in experience, I would root for her because we always like to give old timers a break when we can.
She would still need to bake cookies, though, as a backup.

Agree that Ellen Corbett is the better candidate for our District. I do think that it will be a close race, but being a woman will help her win. She also has wonderful voting records with Senior, LGBT, Union, Environmental as well as the Consumer groups.
