ASSEMBLY | 16TH DISTRICT | The most expensive Assembly primary race in the state wasn’t even close as the labor-backed Tim Sbranti won a spot in the November General Election over Steve Glazer.
The Dublin mayor will meet Republican Catharine Baker, a first-time candidate who cruised to victory in the moderate 16th Assembly District.
The fall matchup will likely ignite another barrage of special interest money highlighted by rhetoric, first from Glazer, and then from Baker, calling for an end to transportation strikes by public employee labor unions.
Nearly $4 million in independent expenditure dollars was spent in the primary for and against Sbranti and Glazer in just the last few months.
Baker, a Tri Valley attorney, won 36.5 percent of the vote, followed by Sbranti with 29.6 percent; Glazer at 22.5 percent and Danville Mayor Newell Arnerich with 11.4 percent.

This was predicted by most and will lead to an interesting race in November.
