Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley has long been one of the typically progressive Board of Supervisors’ must ardent supporters of the sheriff’s office and Urban Shield, the disaster training and weapons expo held annually in Pleasanton.
The morning after the Las Vegas shootings that resulted in 59 deaths and more than 500 injuries, Miley used the massacre to again express support for Urban Shield.
“I am saddened about the unnecessary loss of lives in the mass shooting in Las Vegas. I offer my deepest sympathy and condolences to everyone affected by this horrible tragedy,” Miley posted on Facebook Monday morning.
“This is why I support the need for [Alameda County Sheriff’s Office] Urban Shield and comprehensive, full-scale regional emergency preparedness and disaster plans.”
Critics of Urban Shield say the event promotes the over-militarization of local law enforcement has utilized stereotypes in the past during some training exercises, for instance, depicting Muslims as suspected terrorists.
The exposition portion of the event has also been criticized for including vendors selling merchandise, such as t-shirts and signs, with racist slogan and themes.
Urban Shield for created in 2007 by Alameda County Sheriff Gregory Ahern. This year’s edition was held in August.

Related to the recent mass shooting in Las Vegas, obviously at least most of the higher ranking “liberals,” and such as for instance Feinstein, Pelosi, Boxer, Kamala Harris, the Clintons, and the Obamas, etc, and perhaps also Nate Miley, will get in the very highest gear in pushing for more and stronger gun control laws.
However even the very strongest gun control laws would be totally irrelevant and impossible to enforce as long as we have tons of both legal and illegal immigration, and the high ranking phonies, demagogues, and scam artists who pretend to be “liberals” undoubtedly realize that.
And since the Democratic Party needs a lot of immigration if it is have even a tiny chance to win future elections, therefore the phonies and scam artists who comprise the top leadership of the DP will keep on pressing for tons of immigration, and regardless of their pretending to be totally committed to gun control and public safety.

Nate Miley and the Alameda County Sheriff's Office have an interesting and complicated relationship.
For instance, while Miley is a strong, and in fact fanatical, proponent of having medical marijuana clinics, the Sheriff's Office is strongly against having them. And related to that, some years ago I had a conversation with one of the highest ranking members of the Sheriff's Office on Miley and medical marijuana, and he told me that Miley had then recently lied, backtracked, and changed his story, and basically sold the Sheriff's Office downriver on the issue of medical marijuana clinics, and he was furious over it.
So I then asked him why the Sheriff's Office did not basically declare war with Miley over the issue and publicize his lies, and he then told me that on the other hand Miley could sometimes be very helpful, and especially when it came to providing considerable funding for the Sheriff's Office.
In other words, Miley and the Sheriff's Office are in a partnership of sorts, and where they in various ways sometimes help each other, and at the same time also usually tolerate each other's perceived faults.
Or as they say, “POLITICS MAKES FOR STRANGE BEDFELLOWS.”

How would a Muslim terror subject be useful for training? What if the police face another situation like Orlando where a terrorist has already killed people, has hostages or other people trapped in the same building, and the terrorist calls up the police to say “Allahu Akbar. I pledge allegiance to ISIS”? What would the police do next? That's the whole point of these exercises–to strategize how to handle similar situations.
@10:54's stereotyping, virtue signalling and being political correctness flies in the face of reason. This person's mind is so open that hir's brain has fallen out.

Why wouldn't Urban Shield “Muslim” combatants be dressed like anyone else? Are you suggesting that Urban Shield dresses up combatants in thawbs and keffiyehs? Show me some pictures. Who's stereotyping whom?

How do you depict a Muslim terrorist for a training exercise and how would that be useful in training to respond to an attack? Let's call the 9-11 terrorists Muslim. I think they were dressed and looked just like anyone else, just like in Las Vegas and in OKC, Vir. Tech, Orlando, Aurora (I'll quickly run out of space here). In some of those cases, the perps were carrying the type of assault weapons that just about anybody can buy just about anywhere. The stereotypes that might have been used to depict terrorists for these training exercises, reportedly, probably look more like the people who will need additional protection from authorities after a terrorist attack.

Muslims as terrorists. Imagine that! What a far-fetched idea.
