But even when they bother, like two recent articles on two East Bay assembly races, they get it wrong. Your podcast definition of Democrats and Republicans in the 15th and 16th District races is pretty partisan, “Republicans are in favor of lower taxes, no new taxes and less government. Democrats are in favor of more tax revenue, new tax structures to benefit all and more government control.”
Those seem to me to be the extremes on each side and not the core values of each. You of course can write what you want, but this screed smacks of either puerile ignorance or petty baiting. You can do better than that.
Your lack of admiration for the Chronicle, East Bay Times in all its parts is well taken. However, your prejudices for “Twinkies, Burgers, processed foods, nasty women, women’s gymnastics, all sports except men’s gymnastics and NASCAR” reveal a mean spirited homophobic misogynistic racist meme more aligned with the Alt Right and Alt Left.
The EBT Pulitzer for the Ghost Ship coverage was well earned. As a journalist I am sure you seek recognition for your work. This latest podcast does nothing to emboss your reputation.
Ghost Ship was all about the money, fires, the loss of life, the Rave culture, Oakland and Alameda County corruption and oversight. The fires throughout California underscore that fires and preparation are important. Do you care about them? Or just to make fun? These issues are all on your beat.
By your reference the Republicans want less support for fire prevention and the Democrats want to spend more. A little simplistic I suspect.
The issues for San Leandro are Police expansion, Fire expansion, Library expansion, rent control, parcel taxes, bond issues and solvency. Mayor Cutter seems to think that the city has the expense under control and the election will establish the manner in which these will play out.
We shall see. In the meantime, applying simple labels to these issues is Fake News and a journalistic sell out of the first order. You can do better.
