STUDY FINDS 60% OF BILLS SPONSORED BY SPECIAL INTERESTS WERE PASSED IN ’07-08
Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi loves the cameras. Remember this lovely photo? Sometimes these things backfire, though. The San Jose Mercury published Sunday a year-long study focusing on the power of special interests introducing legislation through lawmakers and features a photo of Hayashi chatting with a lobbyist who represents Verizon Wireless, the San Francisco 49ers and Anheuser-Busch. Sixty percent of the bills sponsored by special interest were signed into law in 2007-80, according to the Mercury News.
In 2009, Hayashi came under fire for AB 1200 which consumer rights advocates said weakened then-state Sen. Jackie Speier’s landmark anti-steering legislation prohibiting insurance companies from advocating for the body shops of their choosing. Hayashi’s bill was signed last September by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and was co-sponsored by some of the insurance industry’s biggest players. In return for her help, Hayashi received a total of $8,000 in campaign donations from Allstate, Liberty Mutual, Farmers, the Personal Insurance Federation of California and the Association of California Insurance Company PAC.

Mary Hayashi is the poster child (that's putting it nicely) for special interest in big business lobbyists, she is the hypocrisy of the Liberal Democratic Progressive Left, yet…no one but a journalist like Steven calls her out on it and she'll continue to get elected because her campaign and her office will put out a press release and those in the 18th AD will not bother looking into it.
Republican, Democrat or whatever, aside, she is a horrible politician in love with the camera and living it up with big business. From my experience in life, she should be a talent agent or studio boss…living to make a deal. Arrogance, ignorance and incompetence; oh, and she's not from here (never hurts to remind folks of that).
Mary Hayashi is not courages, no matter how much Doug Jones pimps the thought out.

And she gets so much money from these corporations she can buy her husband a judgeship, try to get local candidates elected and still have enough cash left over to insure her re election.
As a democrat I am embarrassed by this official.
She is a carpetbagger and now we see she is also in the pocket of special interests.
People need to be aware of candidates she is backing so we don't put into office anymore people with her lack of ethics

Hayashi has an industry-sponsored bill that if adopted will result in the death of Californians. She is carrying AB 142 for the health club industry. It creates exemptions in the law requiring that all health clubs have staff on hand during operations trained in the use of defibrillators.
