STATE SENATE | California State Senate Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg apparently has a lot of extra work for Senate Majority Leader Ellen Corbett after assigning her six committee posts. Fellow East Bay State Sen. Loni Hancock was named chair of the public safety committee, in addition, to four other assignments announced Monday.
Corbett, who is running for Congress when her term expires in 2014, was picked to serve on the banking and financial institutions committee; business, professions and economic development; energy, utilities and communication; environmental quality, insurance and judiciary, which she chaired two years ago.
Hancock is one of 16 senators assigned to the the budget and fiscal review committee and sits on a subcommittee dealing with corrections, public safety and the judiciary. In addition, she will serve as chair of the public safety committee, along with a seat on the education and elections and constitutional amendments committees.
Can anyone be effective on 6 committees?
Or is this just a way to enable Corbett to “encourage” all those special interests to contribute to her 2014 congressional campaign?
Banking
Energy, utilities, communication
Insurance and judiciary
Lets see who is missing? Doctors and drugs, or would that be partially covered by “insurance”, malpractice, etc. ?
Let the engorgement commence…
