OAKLAND CITY COUNCIL | Oakland City Council members Larry Reid and Desley Brooks broke city laws prohibiting interference in the city’s administrative affairs and bidding process, according to a report released by City Auditor Courtney Ruby today. According to Ruby, Brooks and Reid both told city employees to contract with Turner Group Construction on a $2 million demolition project at the Oakland Army Base.

I thought having the power to engage in illegal conduct, and such as influence peddling, and while also usually being able to get away with it, was one of the primary reasons to become a member of a city council or a county board of supervisors.
In other words if we make a regular habit of forcing the big boys in government to follow the law, then most of the type of creatures who presently are interested in high elected office will no longer be.
