STATE LEGISLATURE | The East Bay’s two state senators will be busy this session. State Sens. Loni Hancock and Bob Wieckowski will each chair a standing committee, Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de Leon announced Tuesday.
Hancock, who will be termed out in 2016, will retain the chair the Senate Public Safety Committee and sit on three additional commitees. They include the committees on Budget and Fiscal Review, Elections and Constitutional Amendments and Human Services. Hancock serves areas from Hercules to San Leandro.
The newly-elected Wieckowski moves up from the State Assembly and will chair the Environmental Quality Committee. During his time in the Assembly, one of Wieckowski’s signature issues was combating the encroachment of fracking in the state.
