State Sen-elect Steve Glazer |
STATE SENATE | 7TH DISTRICT | In a race that featured millions of dollars from outside interests, Orinda Mayor Steve Glazer has won the State Senate Seventh District special election Tuesday night.
With nearly all the votes counted in the district comprising Contra Costa and Alameda Counties, Glazer, a moderate Democrat backed by business interests and Southern California millionaire Bill Bloomfield, won 54.6 percent of the vote. Assemblymember Susan Bonilla, also a Democrat, and strongly backed by labor, earned just 45.4 percent of over 111,000 ballots cast.
The result mimicked late polling in the race showing Glazer up by as many as 10 percentage points. Glazer also led Bonilla by an identical spread in the March primary.
Following Tuesday night’s results, Glazer said one state senator cannot change Sacramento alone, and added, “Today we saw that people are more important–and more powerful–than special interests, and that’s a great message for our state to hear. Our campaign struck a chord with voters frustrated by the gridlock and dysfunction in Sacramento. They want leaders who are more pragmatic than partisan, more focused on answers than ambition.”
Glazer’s big win was never contested Tuesday night after early results showed a sizable lead that never changed throughout the night.
The result represents a big defeat for labor unions who had poured significant resources into the race featuring Glazer, a candidate who had staked his chances on unwavering opposition to transit union strikes in the Bay Area.
Upon his swearing-in, Glazer and Bonilla, who maintains her seat in the Assembly, will both serve in the Legislature. Tuesday’s special election was necessitated by Rep. Mark DeSaulnier’s election to Congress last November. Glazer will finish DeSaulnier’s term and face re-election in 2016.
If you want to get rid of politicians that are bought and paid for, like Glazer and others, you need to support AB700. With AB700 we would get to actually see the the top three funders of campaign mailers clearly, unlike current disclosure policies that let the largest funders hide behind small print and innocuous committee names. Most Bay Area legislators are supporting this, with the notable exception of Catharine Baker.

Oh, you union whores really can't take reality. Keep having those wet dreams. We might even hire you to cater the Glazer and Baker re-election victory parties in 2016, but no union-scale wages! You have been relegated to the trash heap of history, and the PEOPLE'S CHOICE WINNERS coming at your expense is all the sweeter.
How sweet it is to roll all over you yet once again!

Both Glazer and Baker will lose in 2016 when the voter turnout will be more than twice as high. You are never the people's choice with a 23% voter turnout. Bye, Bye corporate sluts!

So happy that the district has realigned to moderate-conservative, which best reflects our values. We don't need any ultra-liberal skank union sluts out this way. If they're dumb enough to thrust recycled has-beens on us in the next election, we'll be only too happy to send them right back to the scrap heap of history.
Good, old-fashioned values are the best. So lucky to have the Dynamic Duo: Senator Steve and Assemblywoman Cathy. We are so blessed!

What has been pointed out so far is that Glazer and Baker were almost totally funded by anti-consumer groups. The middle and lower class lost when they won. My family doesn't belong to a union, wish we did, but I agree that 2016 will bring out more anti-Glazer and anti-Baker voters. Usually more progressive candidates win in presidential years. Those voters in 2016 will represent the people, not the small number that turn out in special elections.

All hail INCUMBENCY!!!!!!!!!!!
We agree!
Loving Senator Steve Glazer for the next 13 years!
You union sluts gave it your all, and the public decided that you're worthless and toxic. Steve is the People's Choice, as was evidenced by his election blowout victory.
This is Politics 99. He was never going to be allowed to fail since he always had the PEOPLE on his team. BART strikes are now on their way to the ash bin of history. Along with our dear Assemblywoman Cathy Baker, the district has been realigned to moderate-conservative. We who live in the district are very happy, indeed.
Steve's victory is your loss, and we will continue to remind you union sluts of that fact. Next up, we take out Dick Valley in the next election and throw him on the scrap heap of history along with MITTbranti, Whorbett, Bitchchanan, Second Place Sue, Whortese, can't write anymore since the list of LOSERS is so, so long.
How sweet it is for THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE WINNERS!!!

The ” People's Choice”? We'll see in 2016. He just took a walk, instead of voting on a bill last week that would have raised the minimum wage to $13 an hour by 2017. So, he refused to take a stand on one of his first contentious issues. What a coward!

Related to the fact that the race between Glazer and Bonilla was between two Democrats.
Certainly a lot of members of the Democratic Party like California's new system in which rather than the final election almost always being primarily between one Democrat and one Republican, instead it is between the top two vote getters in the primary, and even if they are both from the same political party, and which in present day California often means that the final two candidates on the ballot will both be Democrats.
However there is that old expression, “Be careful what you ask for, since you might get it.” And I strongly suspect this new voting system will hasten the fracturing, and virtual destruction, of the DP machine that since at least the1920's has been winning elections based on feeding the general public a lot of lies, garbage, and nonsense by parasites, con men, and scam artists who pretend to be great liberals and wonderful humanitarians, and which composes most of the leadership of the DP.
Some of the more prominent recent examples of the leadership of the DP who are merely parasites, thieves, ripoff artists, con men, scam artists, charlatans, demagogues, and snake oil salesmen, but who pretend to be great liberals and wonderful humanitarians, are the Clintons, John Edwards, and Nancy Pelosi.
And for instance imagine if we used California's system also in national elections, and then in the 2008 presidential election the only two candidates on the ballot, AND ALSO IN TELEVISED DEBATES IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS LEADING UP TO THE GENERAL ELECTION, had been Barack Obama and Hillary.
Then Hillary and Obama could have continued the extreme public insult sessions they had previous to the 2008 Democratic Party convention, and in which they regularly and repeatedly said much nastier things about each other than virtually anything that Obama and his Republican opponent said about each other in the debates leading up the 2008 general election.
Furthermore, there are also a lot of other big, developing, and growing problems the Demagogue Party will be having in the coming years, and as an independent, but who leans slightly toward the Republican Party, I look forward to the leadership of the DP finally being exposed for the thieves, con men, parasites, charlatans, and snake oil salesman they actually are, So I hope that California, and which is the nation's trendsetter and bellweather state, continues its system of having the final election between the top two vote getters in the primary, and even if they are both Democrats.

On behalf of the Democrats of Alameda and Contra Costa counties I want to congratulate Senator-elect Steve Glazer on his outstanding victory. He represent our values and ideals.
We have already started to put our team together as far as office staff go. Steve will be an outstanding legislator among whose first priorities will be co-sponsoring with our dear Assemblywoman Cathy Baker anti-strike legislation for the Bay Area Rapid Transit District and other mass transit. Of course, we are willing to work with organized labor once they understand that this is non-negotiable and that they are behold to the people. There will be no special interest stooges on our staff.
Once again, on behalf of both counties, we are so fortunate to have Steve Glazer for the next 13 years!
Woo-hoo!

What hasn't been pointed out is that Second Place Sue, she is a Second Place Sue, was the people's choice for Number Two–best the bitch can do. She joins the scrap heap of rejects: MITTbranti, Whorbett, HO Tam, HO-Yashi, Whortney Stark, the list goes on and on.
Until union whores bend over and admit that they are irrelevant and must do their masters–the people–bidding, their puppets will continue to go down to defeat. Next up, we're going to take out Dick Valley. No union sluts need apply!

Written like a true union whore. You shits couldn't win last November. You couldn't win in March. You couldn't win last night and you won't win at all. You whores just don't get it.
The public has wised up to the dirty and toxic union whores. We, the PEOPLE have taken back our political system. Union whores have been vanquished once again. Our dear Assemblywoman Cathy Baker and Senator-elect Steve Glazer will now make sure that BART strikes are illegal, as should always have been the case.
You continue to to get trounced by the PEOPLE. Dirty union sluts will no longer pick the public's pockets clean. You are irrelevant and vanquished. This district now goes moderate to conservative. Reality and politics 99!
The People crap on you like you did to us.

We in the middle class lose because the top 1% outspent us by millions, but we will have another crack at him in 2016 when many more votes will be cast than in this special low election turnout.
