17TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
Give Rep. Ro Khanna credit: Either he’s a bold, principled progressive leader or someone who has never read, “How to win friends and influence people.” [VIDEO BELOW]

This week, after Senate Democrats capitulated–those are words of progressives like Khanna–or figured out too late that the three-day government shutdown wasn’t playing well in Middle America, Khanna nevertheless laid into his colleagues Wednesday.

In a House floor speech, Khanna said Democrats were letting down the progressive grassroots, particularly undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children, known as Dreamers, who were seeking a deal from the weekend shutdown in order to remain in the U.S.

“They want us to not just look at generic poll numbers or battleground districts,” said Khanna, “they want us to lead with our hearts because they are leading with their hearts.”

He concluded his blistering 60 seconds by asking, “When will the election representatives be worthy of the courage of our citizens and the grassroots?”
