New York Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the fresh, new face of the Progressive movement, endorsed Rep. Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House Wednesday, but not before revealing her true preference for East Bay Rep. Barbara Lee.
“I was among the first to say that Lee is my ideal Speaker, because I so admire her progressive record, tenacity, and political courage,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.

But the freshman congresswoman who has quickly become a progressive superstar, acknowledged that Lee is running to become chair of the House Democratic Caucus.
Ocasio-Cortez added she will support Lee over Southern California Rep. Linda Sanchez on Nov. 28. Lee lost to Sanchez in 2014 by just two votes, 98-96.
East Bay Rep. Ro Khanna is also on the record in support for Lee.
I hope the dinosaurs among the democrats face reality and either step aside to allow courageous people to lead or join in to help save life on the planet. Ignorance of the potential threat of climate crisis is tantamount to suicide.
