Alameda Unified School District’s search for its next superintendent didn’t extend very far. The school board tabbed Berkeley Unified School District Associate Superintendent Pasquale Scuderi to lead Alameda schools.
The announcement last week ends a somewhat quick hiring process after former Alameda Superintendent Sean McPhetridge announced last February he would leave the district at the end of the current school year.
Scuderi’s three-year, $230,000 annual salary was approved June 28 by the school board, 4-0, with boardmember Gray Harris absent.
Prior to serving the past two years as associate superintendent in Berkeley, Scuderi was an assistant superintendent for Berkeley Unified’s Educational Services Department, and Berkeley High School principal from 2010-2014.
