President Trump’s latest actions involving Ukraine is too much for Rep. Ro Khanna. The Fremont congressman announced his support for an impeachment inquiry Tuesday. The declaration via a tweet followed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision the same day to move forward with the inquiry.
Khanna, despite holding a clearly blue seat in the 17th Congressional District, had followed a cautious stance when it came to supporting impeachment against Trump, similar to Pelosi’s position.
He was also the lone holdout for impeachment among East Bay congressmembers, although Khanna’s rhetoric has often been highly critical of the president’s actions.
Oakland Rep. Barbara Lee has long supported impeachment. Last summer, Rep. Eric Swalwell came to the same conclusion, as did Contra Costa County Rep. Mark DeSaulnier.
