City Council Briefing: Cannabis tax rate increase, smoke-free ordinance, and in-lieu housing fees

Hayward may increase its cannabis tax on gross receipts on Tuesday night.

CANNABIS TAX HIKE – Hayward city staff is proposing to increase its cannabis tax on gross receipts from six percent to seven percent. Hayward’s cannabis industry is still in its infancy, although the city has issued 23 conditional-use permits for various cannabis business types… An appeal of the Planning Commission’s approval for a 40-unit town home development on Oak Street is also on the AGENDA

SHELTER EMERGENCY – Berkeley’s Housing Advisory Commission is recommending the city beef up enforcement of its existing smoke-free multi-housing ordinance. They recommend increasing funding for enforcement during the next budget process, increasing signage of the ordinance on rental buildings, and making the complaint process easier. AGENDA

LIVERMORE will discuss whether to increase the amount of in-lieu fees for affordable housing from $25.37 per square foot to $28.52 at its meeting on Oct. 28, 7 p.m. AGENDA.
