Oakland City Council President Rebecca Kaplan said the city is entering into direct negotiations for the proposed sale of its half of the Coliseum complex to the Oakland Athletics.
Kaplan made the announcement prior to a public comment period at Tuesday evening’s city council meeting.
It is unclear whether the council’s action also means the city has dropped its lawsuit to block the sale of Alameda County’s half of the Coliseum to the A’s.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports the city of Oakland has not dropped its lawsuit against the county.
