Alameda city officials break ground Wednesday on the first phase of a $1 billion mixed-used development at the former Alameda Naval Air Station. The initial phase of the project, developed by Alameda Point Partners, adds 673 new housing units, including 130 units of affordable housing for low-income residents; 8 acres of open space, and nearly 100,000 square feet of retail.
