Rep. Eric Swalwell has been pining for a high-profile full-frontal attack by President Trump against him on Twitter for several years and he got it earlier this week. The president’s angry tweet came after Swalwell appeared on Fox News last Sunday to discuss the House impeachment hearing.
“Don’t get why @FoxNews puts losers on like @RepSwalwell (who got ZERO as presidential candidate before quitting)…” Trump tweeted on Dec. 8.

Rep. David Cicilline responded with a riposte on Twitter that included a photo of himself, Swalwell, and fellow Democratic Reps. Primila Jayapal and Joe Neguse. The photo was retweeted on each congressmember’s Twitter feed.
Trump has mentioned Swalwell before on Twitter, but without the level of insult hurled last weekend. Donald Trump, Jr., however, routinely trades barbs with Swalwell.
