“The California Democratic Party has reached settlements in three lawsuits alleging sexual harassment and workplace retaliation involving its former leader, Eric Bauman, the Los Angeles Times reports.

“Bauman announced his resignation in November 2018 following a report from The Times that revealed 10 party staff members and political activists had accused him of making crude sexual comments and engaging in unwanted touching or physical intimidation in professional settings.”

Bauman was replaced as party chair last June by Rusty Hicks, formerly the chair of the Los Angeles Democratic Party.

Bauman narrowly defeated Kimberly Ellis to become the state Democratic party chair in May 2017. An audit in July 2017 confirmed Bauman’s win.

Among elected officials in the East Bay, state Sens. Nancy Skinner and Bob Wieckowski cast votes for Bauman in 2017, as did, Assemblymember Bill Quirk.
