San Leandro named Fran Robustelli as interim city manager. The San Leandro City Council unanimously approved her appointment on Monday night.
Robustelli replaces Jeff Kay, who announced in October that he will become city manager in Healdsburg.
“I’m very thrilled to be joining the city team,” Robustelli told councilmember at the end of lengthy meeting early Tuesday morning.
Most recently, Robustelli served as the interim city manager in Clayton. She will lead a city facing the effects of the pandemic and potential cuts to staff and services as budget discussions begin early next year. Considerations for reallocating funding from the police department to other social services is also a burning subject in the city’s discourse.
Robustelli’s tenure begins on Dec. 21, the city said. She will earn $236,703 annually, in addition, to benefits. A nationwide search for Kay’s permanent replacement will also begin in the new year, although an executive recruitment firm has not yet been selected.
Fran Robustelli is quite the catch, if you want your employees to file a PERB lawsuit for unfair labor practices. She and Fran David set back employee/employer relations 20 years when she was the HR Director.
