“The four sitting Livermore City Council members voted unanimously for an interview and appointment process, as opposed to calling for a costly special election, to fill the vacancy on the dais created upon Bob Woerner’s ascension from councilman to mayor on Monday night,” Pleasanton Weekly reports.

Woerner won last month’s mayoral election against Mony Nop. The Livermore City Council also welcomed a new member this week. District 3 Councilmember Brittni Kiick was sworn-in.

Applications for the council appointment are due on Jan.1
