A recent bump in new covid-19 cases in Alameda County over the past week pushed the overall number of total cases over 3,000.
Sixty-four new cases reported on Wednesday, puts Alameda County at 3,049 covid-19 infections since the first two were identified on Feb. 28.
Despite the increase, the number of deaths, currently at 93, Alameda County has slowed. Over the past seven days, just one death was recorded.
The small surge in Alameda County cases is possible due to increased testing in Oakland, where a third site was recently opened Over the past week, the number of new cases in Oakland has risen considerably.

On Tuesday, the city became the first in Alameda County to surpass 1,000 cases. As of Wednesday, the figure is 1,070.
Hayward and the unincorporated areas of Alameda County continue to show high rates of infections. Hayward has the second-most covid-19 cases in the county at 573, as of Wednesday. But its rate of 356 cases per 100,000 residents is the highest in the county, followed by nearby unincorporated Eden area, with a rate of 292 cases per 100,000 residents.

By demographic, Latinos in Alameda County continue to have the most covid-19 cases, making up more than 1,200 of the total cases. Notably, some of the county’s largest Latino communities reside in Hayward and the unincorporated areas.

However, the rate of African Americans in the county who have died from complications due to covid-19, remains the highest among all demographics. In total, 22 African Americans in the county have died from the infection.
Hayward is a piggy bank for the unions and employees which many make over 200K a year and don’t live in our City. Most City employees don’t care about the dirty streets and crime here. Wahab is using Hayward for a stepping stone to me a congressman. Just like Quirky.
